My Students
As our music program has expanded recently, we need to replace aging audio cables. We have students playing electric keyboard, guitar and bass and very few 1/4 inch cables to go around. The same is true for microphones for concerts and school events.
We have great kids, performing in concert band, steel band, jazz and percussion ensemble, chorus, our select "Canterbury" choir, guitar and piano classes and our annual musical.
Our school is highly diverse with students coming from a huge range of socio-economic backgrounds. It's the musical ensembles that really unites many of these kids whose family histories are so different.
My Project
I'm asking for new 1/4 inch audio cables for electric keyboard which will be used by: piano class, jazz ensemble, music theory, concert band, chorus and the musical. Cables for guitar and electric bass will be used in: guitar class, jazz ensemble, steel band and the musical. Mic cables will be used by students in chorus, "Canterbury Choir", our Vocal Solos concert, the school musical, and at every concert by the band, chorus and orchestra directors.
Students are too used to fighting over very few working cables at present, and on too many occasions, have had a cable stop working in the middle of a performance or a concert to the embarrassment of all. And with students unable to pay for their own equipment, they are completely reliant on what the school has. If we can replace old cables and supply new ones, it can only encourage students to continue their musical studies at our school.
Musical performance, to some students, is life.
To some it's a hobby. To some, it's just a class. To many, it's the one thing that they look forward to out of everything else at school. Quality audio cables make performance work and ensure the audience can hear what the students are doing. Help make our students proud of the equipment we use to make our concerts happen by replacing the old and nearly useless cables we've had with brand new 1/4 inch and microphone cables.
