My Students

The 7th grade students in my Humanities, Theatre and Musical Theatre classes come from very diverse backgrounds. The students in my performing arts classes are eager to learn about theatre and to perform. The humanities students are hungry to learn about the events, social outcomes and cultural influences of the generations that came before them. The performing arts classes have been profoundly impacted by COVID-19. Performances and entire programs have been cancelled. Students need community and community is the basis for theatre.

My Project

The Arts, especially Theatre Arts, are all about community. Students in theatre become storytellers and practice humanity through living in the moment and practicing teamwork. During uncertain times, it is increasingly important to let students explore and create courageous characters that inspire others.

Students feel valued when they have appropriate supplies.

Chromebooks will allow students to collaborate on acting and writing projects that require research and careful set and costume development. Video editing and other technical aspects can also be incorporated into the curriculum if students have access to Chromebooks.
