My Project
As part of their educational journey, my students are enrolled in a 12:1:1 standardized assessment classroom. My students have been diagnosed with varying forms of emotional disturbances, autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities. My students are enrolled in classes on track for a NYS Regents diploma. As part of their every day instruction they take part in science based regents courses as well as art courses that are regents track. Thankfully our school has entered a shift, to provide career training, while our students are progressing towards their high school diploma. Our science program has been lucky enough to have a new state-of-the-art hydroponics room, and in this hydroponics room, our students grow, nurture, and care for diverse plants from around the world. Furthermore, once these plants grow, it serves as a perfect room for down time, allowing our students to draw the plants they see, while allowing their creativity to flow. These plants will help my students understand the general life cycle of various forms of plants, while also allowing them to have a safe space to draw the intricate leaves they see!
