This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I serve Gifted and Talented students in a highly diverse, low-income district. The students come from many different backgrounds and a majority of our students speak a second language. Our students come from supportive families who want the best for their kids but often do not have the resources they need to assist them. These students are focused and excited to learn.

Gifted students are tomorrow's leaders, inventors, problem-solvers and creators!

Providing them with opportunities to think critically and collaborate is essential for their success while providing them more opportunities to be more college and career ready!

My Project

The artistic paint and decorative elements will allow my student's maker classroom store to also begin stocking inventory of fashion accessories and clothing that they design in our Fashion Design Class. Students will be allowed to bring in one item of clothing (canvas/leather shoes, a purse, jean jacket, military jacket, etc.). In these lessons we will learn about the history and economics of fashion design. Students will then analyze current trends to sketch how they would like to create their own wearable art as advertisement in the school for our store's new services. Once studying the history, trends, and marketing ideas we will move onto a student created product line available to all stakeholders in the school. Students will learn about branding, create a logo for their personal label, survey students in the building and develop a artistic inspired marketing plan to promote their label's one product in our storefront. Students can use the class cricut to add their label. Masks, tshirts, custom denim designs...with these resources the sky is the limit and students can choose a fashion design element that they are passionate about. Students will stock and inventory the school store, manage their products and evaluate the sales of their personal brand. Students whose products are not successful will be allowed to redesign and relaunch their brand.
