My students need 10 anemometers and 1 Weather model.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Posada's classroom raised $331

My Students
Students hear meteorologists everyday describing weather conditions but how much do they really understand? I always tell my student that they know science because they experience it everyday. My job is to give them the words to describe what they already know.
I teach 8th grade Earth Science to the advanced students and General Science to the remaining population in a suburban school.
I also teach a class where special education students are mixed with the general education population alongside a special education teacher.
My Project
The Weather Unit is taught where students need to understand why we experience certain types of weather. Since there is not enough funding for science supplies, science classes in my school tend to have enough equipment for basic supplies and less so for enrichment. With the anemometers, students will be able to perform outdoor activities where we measure wind speed along with collecting other weather data. The weather model would allow me to relate the data they collect with the type of weather fronts that are associated with certain weather conditions.
Hands-on discovery is an important tool when teaching science and a great opportunity for students to feel like actual scientists as they use real science equipment to collect data.
More than half of students from low‑income households
