My Project
My students thrive on hands-on learning! We are able to use many items from my house and the store to demonstrate and practice the various topics of our Ohio 5th-grade curriculum.
Science is a hands-on subject.
I have found many activities that use simple objects, but they have to be purchased every year. Force and motion is a topic that our students struggle with. Sometimes the homemade objects demonstrate the skill perfectly, other times the variables that exist with homemade objects affect the outcome of the activity. The Force and Motion tubs from Lakeside will allow my students to have more accurate trials and therefore more reliable data.
We practice treating items with respect and my students are really good at that. I have received money through DonorsChoose for headphones and out of the initial 75 I received 4 years ago, I have only had to replace 5. (I still have some replacements tucked away!)
I would like my students to have access to durable goods that will consistently demonstrate the hypothesis accurately.
