Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" is, perhaps, the most well known piece of philosophical writing in western civilization. While there are a variety of interpretations of "The Cave," I like to focus on its meaning relative to education. In particular, Plato argues that in order to truly come into knowing, one must turn their entire mind, body and soul toward learning. In other words, no one else can learn for you.
I am requesting 30 copies of the graphic novel version of Plato's "Allegory of the Cave." I can think of no better story to prepare my weary seniors for the world ahead of them.
