The Active Moving Classroom

Help me give my students tools to practice their gross motor skills like climbing, crawling, and balancing, and challenge their spatial orientation with these obstacle course items.

My Project

Welcome to our Active Moving Classroom! Our space is used by students with goals and objectives in learning how to increase their gross motor skills and spatial awareness.

You will find students rolling, climbing, dancing, crawling, bouncing, and more!

Our students will use the Walk-the-Wave Balance beam to help with activating their core muscles and challenge their balance while walking on a certain pathway off the ground. The soft zone and climbing playset will help with exploring different levels and challenge students by weaving through pathways. Some students have visual impairments and these types of movement skills will help them practice safe and varied pathways around our classroom. Our current sensory rocking canoe chair has seen better days. Our students use this to help regulate themselves when feeling anxious and fidgety.

I am also requesting the magnetic letters to be added to our literacy area as our students love using manipulatives in their learning.

The items chosen will help add to our active moving classroom for students who are unable to use the outdoor playground due to safety. It is also a wonderful addition for students who need frequent movement breaks during their reading and math lessons.

Our students love to move, play, and explore their space. Please help us make their exploration fun and challenging!
