My students need lots of mulch so that they may continue creating a perennial garden, a vegetable garden, and continue the overall beautification of our school.

My Students

"That was our last bag?" was what my Gardening Club students said in disbelief a few weeks ago. They were referring to the fact that we had used up all of the 70 bags of mulch that we had purchased back in September.

My Gardening Club meets Monday-Thursday for 45 minute sessions.

On several occasions I have overheard my students saying to each other, "I wish we had Gardening Club on Fridays." They have learned so much so far, and have a clear love of gardening. We started off the school year with supplies that we were able to buy with money from grants which were awarded to the school last year. We have accomplished a lot so far, but we are not done. Sadly the grants have been used up and now we're in need in more mulch in order to complete our projects.

My Project

Up to this point we have pulled up weeds and grass in large areas surrounding the school, and planted tulip & daffodil bulbs, as well as small bushes, chrysanthemums, and trees. We have covered over all of those areas with mulch in order to keep the bulbs protected, keep the weeds down, and improve the overall look of the garden. We would like to continue these improvements in other areas surrounding the school, including clearing a space for use as a vegetable garden starting this Spring.

I have no shortage of helping, capable hands, and I want to ensure that those hands have the materials that they need in order to continue our garden projects.
