This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"I certainly do care about measuring educational results. But what is an 'educational result?' The twinkling eyes of my students, together with their heartfelt and beautifully expressed mathematical arguments are all the results I need," Keith Devlin.
My classroom is located in the state of Washington at a Title I school.
Our school is Dual Language English and Spanish. Students at my school are hardworking, kind, eager individuals. Many students are first- and second-generation citizens from Africa, South America, and Asia. Our differing cultures, backgrounds, economic statuses, and languages provide richness in the classroom. However, we still face challenges. One challenge is that we are incredibly underfunded. There are so many learning experiences that I wish we could have with our students if we only had the means.
My Project
The one who does the talking and listening does the learning! Let students talk!
Supporting meaningful conversations among young children can be challenging but is well worth the effort.
Many studies have demonstrated the importance of developing speaking and listening skills in early childhood. However, teaching a student to listen well and speak to be understood is not easy. It takes effort, skill, and knowledge. Please help our teachers learn to do this by providing professional texts specific to speaking and listening.
I'm asking for books on how to facilitate student talk in the classroom.
Books I'm asking for include
and other great books.
Please help make better teachers so that students get a better and more engaging education.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
