This year, all of the fourth-grade and fifth-grade students across NYS, as well as all third-graders in my school, will be taking their state exams online. Yes, you read that correctly. The vast majority of students, with a few specific exceptions, will no longer be using a pencil, bubble sheet, and test booklet to complete mandatory grade-level testing.
To prepare the school for this, we are looking a long way down the road, to ensure we have what we need so children are set up for success.
That means making sure I have, as the school
technology teacher, the correct hardware for them, so they can get used to the process. Being prepared is half the battle when experiencing something new. I would like to prepare them so that when they sit at the laptop to actually take their tests, they can focus on the work, not the process. These wired mice will be what they will use for testing. Getting them early in the year will give them time to get used to using them regularly.
