My students need basic science lab supplies such as beakers, spatulas, graduated cylinders, indicator bottles, and test tubes so they can conduct many fun lab activities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine a 21st century science education without basic laboratory supplies? Well, I can't! I want to make sure my students are equipped with the science skills and laboratory literacy so they can make the creative decisions our ever-changing world needs. But they need real-world exposure.
My students are hard-working students and often will become the first person in their families to graduate high school and/or attend college.
They attend a charter school in urban Los Angeles that has high expectations for every student and the students try their best to meet this challenge! Over 95% of the student body is Hispanic and come from working families that qualify for free/reduced lunch. The school also receives Title I funding.
My Project
The most important part about a quality science education is allowing students to think through the scientific process and apply it. The scientific process is the way everyone deals with the natural world everyday. We learn what areas to avoid through observation and experience. We learn from our mistakes. However, this inquiry-based science thinking process truly captures the higher-level thinking skills that are increasingly required in this global society. My students are involved with their community and the global environmental impact. The basic science supplies which include chemical storage bottles, eye wash bottles, beakers and test tubes that I am requesting will give my students an opportunity to ask questions and test those questions and learn from it. Your gift will further inspire their love for science and inquiry!
My students attend a science high school without any basic lab supplies.
However, I know they've selected to attend this high school because they love science! And you can make this happen for them!
