Terrific Trays

My students need wooden trays, photo boxes, and dividers to organize and beautify our Montessori classroom.

My Students

Our classroom is an open and inviting environment designed to foster independent student learning. My students are thirsty for new materials to continue their education.

I teach in a public urban multi-age Montessori school with twenty eight first through third grade students.

My students learn though small group and individual lessons, research and inquiry, and by going out in to our community. My students come from all different backgrounds racially and socioeconomically and live in an urban setting.

My students are involved in social justice and environmental conscious movements taking a stand and trying to better the world. Our students work hard with the resources they have to follow their passions and find meaning in their education.

My Project

When you walk into any Montessori classroom, you will notice and feel a difference. The decor is natural, neutral and beautiful intentionally to make the child feel at home, not distract from their work, and reap the benefits from living plants and animals.

In the Montessori classroom, the environment is carefully designed to best meet the needs of the child.

We use low, wooden shelves so that materials are at the level of the child. Each lesson (whether mathematics, science, history, literacy, etc...) is prepared on a tray so that when he or she is ready to chose a work, everything for that lesson is organized and set. The child practices carrying this tray carefully to their work spot, and is responsible for returning it back the way they found it when they are done. Just like our natural wooden shelves, we need natural wooden trays to match.

We also rotate our materials on and off the shelves, so we need photo boxes with dividers to make sure the four part cards stay organized.
