Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

During silent reading, students get fidgety and antsy. I want my students to be able to read wherever they want in the classroom. Whether it is on the floor, on a stool, bean bag chair, students should be able to read wherever and however they want.

My goal is to make independent reading time more fun and enjoyable.

By allowing them to choose their seat, aka flexible seating, students may find reading more engaging.

Many students have sensory overload and need to be able to move in their seats. Therefore, the wiggle seats will allow them to rock side by side. The floor seats will allow students to relax while reading and give them the feeling of reading on the floor. The stools can be put anywhere in the room, which allows students to choose where they sit in the room to read. Reading is essential in 3rd grade. Making it fun and engaging is ideal. These flexible seating items will allow students to stay focused longer while reading.
