Name your favorite story as a child. We all have one, whether it is a favorite read to you by a teacher or it is a favorite you requested as a bedtime story over and over. With the myriad electronic devices available today, our children are not interacting with books like we did in the past.
My second grade students are missing out on the wonderful experience of enjoying great stories - those that are timeless, as well as the wonderful new literature written each year.
They would prefer to interact with a video gaming system or play games on the Internet. They need to be exposed to the opportunity to utilize the technology they are accustomed to, while having the chance to find a favorite story.
My Project
Instead of trying to compete with today's technological world, I want to integrate the technology available and the wonderful stories I still enjoy reading. My students can have their cake and eat it, too, with a subscription to OneMoreStory. They will be able to interact with technology while being exposed to wonderful literature.
