I am a special education teacher in desperate need of a television. My wonderful students have special needs and need visual reinforcement whenever possible.
A TV would allow me to make connections between the written word and the movie. That extra support sometimes makes all the difference in whether a child truly understands the different layers, or themes, within a story.
Other areas of the curriculum would also be greatly affected with the addition of a TV For example, I have seen DVDs that explore fractions in a fun, yet easy to understand way. Plus, what better way to learn history than to see it reenacted in living color.
