My students need 27 books from the Global Connections series to help them learn about the lives of teenagers around the world.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Will's classroom raised $680
This project is fully funded
I am teaching World Literature to 10th graders. My students are bright and inquisitive, but many of them have not been outside the city they grew up in. My school's goal is to send every child to college, but it is difficult to help my students get ready for college when they have such limited experiences with the world.
I have met a world of obstacles in trying to help my students understand people and cultures outside of the United States. This lack of background knowledge limits their understanding of the texts we are reading. My students are curious about other countries but sometimes struggle with reading texts meant for adults that can tell them about other cultures and geographical areas.
This is why my classroom needs a set of non-fiction, informational books that highlight the lives of teens around the world. This collection of books is filled with information about countries and cultures around the world from a teen's perspective. They also include color photos which will help capture the attention fo my students.
This grant will give my students the opportunity to connect to various cultures and groups of people by viewing those places through the eyes of someone who is their age. Additionally, it will give my students the nonfiction reading practice they need to get ready for the nonfiction reading they will face on the ACT, in college, and in adulthood.
Your donation will make a significant difference in a classroom. Thank you for considering mine!
