Sensory rooms offer valuable benefits, including providing a safe, regulated environment for individuals to calm down, focus, and engage their senses, which is particularly helpful for those with sensory processing disorders or autism, but beneficial for all.
Providing students with a safe, meticulously curated sensory room would directly lead to greater student engagement and achievement across all settings in the school environment. Many of the benefits of sensory rooms can be experienced by both neurodivergent and neurotypical students: emotional regulation, reducing negative behaviors, and enhanced student learning.
