Teen Mental Health

Help me give my students a space where they can feel safe, comfortable, stress free, and curious. I want my kids to feel at home in my room.

My Project

I will use the fidgets to provide all of my students with means to calm their minds and bodies and to help them focus on their work. My students are always grateful to have them, and I want to replace the ones in my room that have been broken or lost. They help my high schoolers ground themselves in the stress of a high school environment, which is super important to my freshmen as they transition out of middle school. The LEGOs will give kids who are complete with their work for the day a chance to engage with their hands and brains rather than doomscroll on their phones, with the added benefit that they make the room pretty! And the snacks are for the kiddos who just can't, for whatever reason, get enough food throughout the day. My most asked question is "do you have any food?" and I always want to be able to say yes, but I can't always afford to have extra snacks in my room.

By helping fund this project, you will help provide my students with a classroom that feels like home; a place where they feel calm, curious, and safe.

My greatest goal in my job is to make students feel comfortable enough to engage with the learning, and any help with that is deeply appreciated. I firmly believe that students cannot learn to their best ability if the environment is not conducive to their comfort - if they feel comfortable (i.e., calm body/calm mind) they are much more likely to be sponges for content!
