In our ever changing world, we are preparing our students for jobs that don't yet exist. My students need Chromebooks and digital cameras to begin learning how to use technology to explore the world, learn and grow.
I have a wonderful group of smart and excited Kindergartners!
We are working and learning at a public school with a vision of fostering smart, critically thinking kids who love art and know they can do anything! We aim to achieve this by integrating the arts into the academic curriculum. The population of the school is linguistically and socioeconomically diverse. I am excited to be looping with this group of students, we will be together for Kindergarten and then first grade. The work that we do in Kindergarten will lead directly into their learning as first graders.
My Project
These young students often work in small groups. It would be very exciting to offer a computer technology station! My students need 5 Chromebooks with cases and 5 digital cameras with cases and memory cards.
With laptops, students could work on reading, basic research, math, Spanish and writing. They would be more free to explore their interests. The other day I had a group of students interested in fire ants. I don't have a book that specifically talks about fire ants. If they had their own computer station, they could look it up and we could learn together!
With digital cameras, students could help to document each other's work and learning. We use photographs as prompts for writing and reflection. We currently have one camera but with 5 more, groups could take turns capturing all that goes on in our classroom. I also hope to use the cameras to film them telling stories and talking about their work.
Your generous donations will help to jump start our technology station.
Thanks to you, students will have access to laptops and digital cameras to both document and extend their learning.
