My Students
When testing Dibels and Common Core lessons on outdated computer equipment, it comes down to the fact that it isn't what the student knows, but how fast the teacher can utilize the computer during timed testing and time-strapped lessons. A fast, up to date laptop computer to test and guide instruction during common core lessons is essential to accurately and informatively determine true test scores of students, as well as providing necessary technological advances to assist in teaching the common core.
I teach a class of 30 eager and energetic fourth graders, which include 4 resource students who are hard-working and take pride in all of their accomplishments that they are learning every day.
My students love to see the results of all their hard work. They are a diverse group of children from many backgrounds who enjoy learning from each other and from me as well. Our school is a charter school who is in the Title II category. Most of the state and district's budget goes to schools with Title I eligibility, so that leaves a school like ours with hardly any funding for much needed new technology to get the jobs done that are district mandated.
My Project
My students need a laptop computer for testing and innovative, common core lessons. I have a group of 30 fourth grade students who are hardworking and proud of all their accomplishments. The school district has mandated new testing to monitor their growth and academic progress. These tests are all timed and it has come down to the fact that giving these tests on old, outdated computers has hindered students and the teacher from witnessing the true potential that students can put on display. This new technology will last for years. A new laptop computer will let the teacher keep up with student progression on tests and have up to date, current common core lessons utilizing new technology.
I want to see the true results of my students' accomplishments, while providing them the opportunity to learn and grow, utilizing new technology in the classroom.
My students need the updated technology of the Dell Inspiron laptop computer in order to fully show their progression in Dibels and Common Core lessons. The use of this new laptop computer is the only way to help further the technology in my classroom both for today and the future.
