My students need a Dell Laptop to support their varied abilities and needs. My ultimate goal is for all my students to have access to technology in the classroom.
The majority of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. More than 70% of our school is on free and reduced lunch and all of the students in my class are on the autism spectrum. My students spend the majority of their day inside the general education classroom and come to my room for additional small group reading, math and social skills instruction.
While their disabilities may range from mild to severe and profound, one thing they all have in common is their love of technology and ability to communicate their thoughts and ideas more effectively while using it.
This is a difficult task when students don't have the proper tools. My students are curious, creative, and imaginative learners. They work hard to solve problems, and discover new things. In our class we are writers, readers, mathematicians, but most of all dreamers! Given the necessary materials, students have a stronger opportunity at achieving their personal best. With a wide range of learners, it is essential that I have the tools and resources to support their varied needs.
My Project
My students are curious, creative, and imaginative learners. Most of whom do not have access to computers at home which places them at a disadvantage in our ever advancing technological society. The Dell Laptop computers I am requesting will give my students the chance to access the internet from their seats, front load content via videos, play math games, conduct research, complete iReady assessments, and stay up to date with current technology trends. They will also learn how to create PowerPoint presentations, and later use those PowerPoint presentations to teach their classmates. By doing this, I will know for sure that they have reached the higher order level of thinking. In addition, they will have more access to technology based educational software at their disposal. These computers will allow them to complete an enormous amount of higher level work at school, including Web Quests, I-Station, iReady, Xtramath, and NewsELA. Having these computers could make the difference of a student becoming a computer engineer, business owner, or even a teacher.
Given the necessary materials, students have a stronger opportunity at achieving their personal best.

My passion is for our 21st century learners to enrich their capabilities and explore new areas of interest in order to enhance their learning experience.
