My students need eight LeapFrog LeapPads and Headphones, and a variety of LeapFrog Games including Explore Transformers Rescue Bot Race to The Rescue Learning Game, Disney Doc McStuffins Learning Game and Explorer My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever been the only kid in the classroom that has never played with a fancy Nintendo DS, iPad, tablet or, better yet, a computer? Or have you been the one that doesn't have access to any technology? Well, I have and I don't want my students to slip behind technology due to budget constraints.
My Pre-K, Bilingual and Special Education students reside in the GREAT state of Texas and they're GREAT (just like the state, of course).
Being a Pre-K teacher I think that technology is pertinent to their advancement into Kindergarten and beyond. I'm a firm believer of if you teach it to them they will learn it, no matter what age.
My Project
The eight LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra Learning tablets will be a way to get technology at the fingertips of my Pre-K students. The Pads installed learning programs and games will get the students motivated to learn by offering engaging lessons in reading, math, science, social skills, and they even instruct them on how to write letters and numbers correctly. The many different types of educational games will enable the children to work independently and quietly using their headphones in a station or at their seat on a skill that they need more help in, extra practice, or introduce them to new skills. Being four and not knowing the value of a dollar and how to really take care of things the screen protectors and purple and green bumper guards will allow my students to use these Pads for years to come. The purple and green bumper colors also double as a quick skill separator of games or groups.
I'm also a firm believer of the more you're exposed, the more you learn.
What better way to engage the kids than with technology and games? The goal of the Technology to the Rescue Grant with the Leap Pads project is to provide different opportunities, forms of engagement and instruction that can get our kiddos brains moving seemingly "on their own" with a teacher named technology.
