Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are middle schoolers at a Title l school in New York. My students come from diverse backgrounds and many from tough homes.

They are overcoming social and emotional barriers each day to receive an education.

My students are active and enthusiastic. They are motivated and eager to do well. They want to learn and are constantly seeking opportunities to take ownership of their learning.

Our school is in a high needs, high poverty area in which most children are on free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch programs. With many students living in tough situations, with some families in shelters and even some students experiencing homelessness, my students work hard despite these challenges. Many students stay after school, participate in after-school clubs and activities, and are always striving to be and do better for themselves and for others.

My Project

With the implementation of these Chromebooks, students will use a variety of online resources and programs to improve their reading and writing skills. Through the use of these Chromebooks, students will have access to technology to use Google Classroom, collaborate on projects, and access research information.

Chromebooks will allow my students the opportunity to access learning at their level and at their pace.

Having access to these Chromebooks will allow me to differentiate and tailor their learning to their specific needs, all while saving time and being as efficient as possible using all the tools provided to me through the Chromebook features.

Chromebooks will also allow my students to engage in meaningful, engaging and enticing activities, all while they are learning the needed skills needed in today's world.

These chromebooks will allow my students the opportunity to further access learning. Being that they have limited means when they leave the school does not mean that their learning should be limited by experiences beyond their control. I want to ensure that their learning is not at all hindered by their situation. Being able to differentiate and giving them access to technology will truly allow me to fully meet their classroom needs.
