My Students
Unfortunately, my students are surrounded by outdated textbooks and technology. In my classes I have 80 students that range from English As A Second Language to Highly Gifted. My students are from a middle class environment but even their own technology is more advanced then the classroom. I need to catch up with the up and coming technology or at least catch up to my students. Shiny new technology inspires them and opens their minds to learning like no other tool in my repertoire.
My Project
My class would dearly love and appreciate the kangaroo. My students would be able to use this computer in so many ways. I have already convinced our school to install 2 routers in my room so that all my students can have wireless Internet access in the classroom. The kangaroo will allow students another access to this! We have already implemented the use of many apps and programs. We use a program called Accelerated Math that is scientifically based and data driven to teach our students math skills. This program allows all students to work at their own pace. I have been relying on students to bring in their own devices but most of them do not have access to this. Earth Science can also be fascinating, but very abstract. There are many apps that would help my students understand the concepts and engage them in learning.
