My Students
I have 20 wonderful students this year. They come to school each day with a smile on their face and a desire to learn. They get so excited about each task during the day and always want to do their best. They are from a small rural area in central Illinois. Many of them are from low income families. Our school district is a Title I district, where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a K-2 elementary building.
My Project
Having Kindle Fires in the classroom will help the students in the class. My students participate in activities online with adaptive learning programs. Having these extra Kindles will allow all of my students to work on these programs at the same time. It also allows the students to practice math and reading skills via apps and websites. The students also research their science, social studies, and STEM projects. Last year my students even were able to video some of their projects. The headphones will also help reduced the noise in the room to help students focus on their work with the Kindle.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
