Technology to Gain Skills for Access to Health Information
Help me give my students the opportunity to learn how to use technology to access up-to-date health-related information giving them the skills to experience wellness for their entire lives.

My Project
My students come from each of the 50 wards of the City of Chicago. Our school takes the very talented Scholars of the city who are talented in the arts but with lower incomes who maybe cannot afford the private schools that offer arts-specific education.
With such a vastly diverse student population, our students come to us with a very wide variety of technology, access to health information, and skills.
This iPad and support material will give me the opportunity to create a health classroom that brings technology and the skills to access health information to the forefront.
We have very limited technology at my school currently with 3 roaming Chromebook carts for 40 teachers to share. I will use this iPad for station work so students can see in real-time what it is like to use tablet technology. The connection to my health class specifically will be lessons related to using the internet to access up-to-date, valid, and source-checked health-related information.
Every time I go to the doctor or have to fill out a form at the dentist, it is via a tablet, most often an iPad. Navigation and usage/manipulation can be complicated when this type of technology is new to you. Having student practice these skills in class can help them easier understand those forms without stressing about using the technology in the first place.
