Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from low income households. The community also has very limited resources. My students struggle with reading, writing and math and need differentiated instruction to support learning. Most of my students are English learners.
My students need visuals, varied reading levels and modeling in order for learning to take place.
I try to find alternative ways to teach and support reading, math, and writing. I have found that using “working” technology helps support learning. Technology also provides accommodations that helps support the needs of my students.
My Project
My classroom needs Chromebooks to work on word processing skills, conduct research for essays, create presentations, type essays, peer edit and review through the use of Google Docs/Drive, and participate in online programs to improve reading level.
Having a chrome base computer classroom will give students the necessary resources to complete their work and learn critical technology skills that will better prepare them for the future.
The Chromebooks will also allow my students to improve on their reading level because they will finally have working technology where they can listen to reading and record their fluency.
My goal is to have students interact with each other, while learning and mastering the English Language Arts standards by conducting various assignments that showcase these standards.
