My students need five laptops to enhance their classroom learning opportunities through digital books, educational websites and to learn how to use the internet as a research tool.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach second grade and have 30 students in my class. I work in an urban school system in Illinois. The majority of my students speak English as a Second Language. I also have a few diverse learners in my class. All of my students are minorities and come from low-income families. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Our school is suffering from severe budget cuts, limiting many academic opportunities and services offered at my school. My students are hardworking, full of energy, and curious about the world around them.
My Project
My students lack opportunities to research online and use the internet as as an educational tool. Laptops will encourage them to use the internet as a valuable tool to drive their own learning.
I am trying to teach my students to become independent thinkers and learners.
Laptops will encourage my students to inquire about the world as well as discover the answers to their own questions. I am trying to instill life-long learning values within my students. With the use of computers, I can encourage them to make their own inquiries, and then teach them to research and find their own answers through online digital books and programs.
These laptops will overall enhance the classroom curriculum in all subjects areas.
