Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is full of brilliant minds that possess unique talents and interests. My dual language students are hardworking, motivated, and full of energy. They undertake grade level content in English and Spanish reading, writing, speaking, and listening across all subjects in both languages! They are a tireless group of 21st century learners grounded in the community of our school and families. We need the tools that will help meet their diverse learning needs so that they are supported and challenged everyday.
My Project
My students are a energetic group of 5th graders with diverse learning styles and strengths. This is especially true with the added skill of a second language. Three Chromebooks will be a source of differentiated independent practice to meet every student's need in our classroom. Our lovers of math can use them to be challenged with an adaptive program that tailors the level of difficulty to their performance. Our avid readers who love to devour books can use a progress monitoring program to self reflect and track their progress. Our Spanish learners can be challenged with a Language Arts program that pushes their creativity and expression. These Chromebooks can also support students that need more practice with math facts, verb conjugation in Spanish, and reading comprehension strategies. In short, Chromebooks will allow our classroom to be a vibrant workshop where no learner has to be left behind or wait idly. Donations to this project will greatly enrich the everyday learning experience of my fifth graders. No student will experience the dread and frustration of being lost or the impatience of being retaught what they've already mastered. Instead, all fifth graders will spend their learning time engaged in an activity that is tailored to their needs. As such, their education will become a joyful journey that will set them up to be life long learners.
