Technology Time

Help me give my students more tablets to use for completing their computer based work on a daily basis. We use several internet based and app based program to practice our reading and math skills.

My Students

My school is located in a town in North Carolina which is home to the Air Force Base Seymour Johnson. Many of the students have family members deployed or serving in the Air Force. We discuss many fiction and nonfiction topics. My first graders are so eager to learn and grow as readers. My class has very high level readers for the first grade. I have been introducing them to beginning chapter books and higher leveled texts, especially in science and social studies. My students are so excited to read a new book in nonfiction texts or a beginning chapter book.

I am working hard to prepare my first graders for their futures by using the many different technology based programs and leveled texts that we have available to our classroom.

They are so excited to learn more and become independent learners. I feel so good when they tell me about their ideas and how they want to learn more about the world.

My Project

My smart first graders are becoming such independent learners, they can log in, complete their work, and then share their work on their portfolios. They are creating their own work with text, messages, drawings, and videos. My students use the school's desktop computers and I pad daily but we usually run out of devices. In order to get all of the students to have at least 1 turn per day on every learning program, we need more access to devices. My students are growing and learning to be ready for the future both educationally and technologically.
