My Students
My students love to learn! They want to see every detail on the page of a book, they want to be able to see and count every math manipulative, they want to work on a modeled piece of writing to revise it as a team! An ELMO Document Camera will help make this happen!
My students are a curious and caring group of kindergarteners who work every day to grow their brains and help their classroom team succeed.
They attend a large primary charter school in an urban school district in Illinois. A majority of the students in my class and school live in low income households. While the kids, their families, and our school operate as one team and family committed to seeing each student to and through college, finding the resources to help them get there can be challenging.
My Project
In order for my students to be fully engaged in learning, they need to be able to see every detail no matter where they are sitting on the rug. They need to feel as though they are contributing to the learning process and working as a team as they go from being able to identify numbers to being able to solve addition and subtractions equations in kindergarten! By having a document camera, my students will be able to easily see all of the learning that is happening every minute of the day. As we look together at a poem or piece of writing, my students will be able to point and circle rhyming words, they will be able to look at multiple words while working on their word attack strategies, they will be able to look at small visual images of maps and diagrams as a team. Most importantly, I will be able to highlight and share student work immediately, shouting out students for their hard work and focus and setting them up as leaders in the classroom.
Literacy research shows that in order for students to become fluent readers, they must have exposure to fluent reading.
The ELMO Document Camera will contribute to that and so much more. Every small visual image that supports student learning can immediately be projected. Many students are visual learners and this will enable me to reach every growing student in my class. Thank you for your investment in the success of my students.
