Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a wonderful, motivated group of diverse learners in my classroom. I have students who speak English as a second language with home languages of Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Japanese, and Vietnamese. There are also many students who come from low-income families without the opportunity to use technology at home. Their parents are very supportive of their education, so students are equally motivated. My students come to school excited to learn new things every day! They love to read, write, solve math problems and learn about science.
My Project
The donated items will make a huge impact on my students by helping them keep organized and engaging them in hands-on and technological learning to use 21st century skills.
The at-your-seat storage organizers will help keep the students organized with the many materials they use to learn each day.
The iPad minis will change their ability to apply technology across our curriculum. Having this technology will change the way students learn in the classroom. In reading, students will be able to use the iPads to access an online reading program that has books at their own level to make reading even more fun. In writing, students will be able to bring their stories to life using the iPad technology and apps available on the IPad to make stories they wrote into comic book format. In math, students will be able to use an online math program to practice math problem solving adjusted to their individual skill level. The rekenreks will help students model the math problems in hands on way. In science, students will be able to use the iPad camera to document experiments. Using other iPad apps and the speakers, students will be able to present their science findings. Students will also be able to proudly display work they created on the board for all to see with the magnetic display shelves.
These items will improve student learning by making students more organized and engaging them in ways that will change their learning. With these new items, they will be gaining new knowledge, having fun, and proudly sharing their learning with others.
