My Students
Our classroom is an exciting, animated place of learning! Our classroom is very interactive. We interact with each other and with the outside world via technology. Using our SmartBoard, we travel to Rome, to outer space, and even inside the human body!
I have a class of 17 3rd Graders.
They are very bright! They love to learn. We use our smart board all day every day. The students love to come up to the board to show what they have learned. They are very well behaved and polite children. Our school is a Laboratory School on the campus of a small university servicing grades Pre-12th grade. We are the only 3rd grade class in all of elementary. Sometimes our little class gets lost in the shuffle. In our classroom, we get to really show our personality.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will allow us to more easily and actively explore the outside world. The Apple TV will allow us to sync our Macbook and iPad with the Smartboard. Students will be able to pass the iPad around the room to show their work, demonstrate problem solving skills, and explain their thinking. The document camera will also allow the students to share their work with this class. The students love to present their hard work and ideas to their classmates. Knowing that they are going to get the opportunity to display their work, they work a little harder. They learn to take pride in their work and I also believe it promotes an intrinsic motivation for learning and achievement.
Donations for this project will improve my classroom in many ways.
These items will definitely allow my classroom to become a fully functioning "smart" classroom. My students will be able to share their personal work with others in the class. They will be able to be the "teachers" in the classroom. They will develop healthy habits for leadership. They will also learn how to be respectful listeners. The technology opportunities that an Apple TV can create in the classroom are priceless.
