I have a wonderful group of students in my class! They are such happy little people, eager to learn, and so grateful to be back in the classroom!
My school receives 100% free and reduced lunches, so I have a wide variety of economic statuses within my room, yet they strive every day they come to school to be the best that they can be!
I have really stressed the importance of education in my classroom, and I can see them slowly start to realize this for themselves.
This pandemic has changed the traditional timeline of learning. Normally when students come to second grade, they are beginning readers. This year has been different. I had many students come in as non-readers, and I have had the joy of watching them learn to find their words and enjoy and value reading! They are a special group to me!
My Project
During this unprecedented time of experiencing a pandemic, the classroom environment has sure changed! I am fortunate to have 1-to-1 Chromebooks for my students to assist with classroom learning as well as distance learning. I have realized, however, that there is now a need for headphones, computer mice, chargers, and power strips to meet the demands of technology.
This grant request has been written to include many technology needs, as well as some fun hands-on activities for writing, science, and social studies.
These activities coincide with Oklahoma Academic Standards. Also included are some fun ways to display and showcase their work to build pride and confidence in their accomplishments. It is clear that this pandemic has affected the traditional timeline of learning. I am working very hard to try and close that gap. These activities will be motivational and fun for my students.
