Technology Rocks at Pleasant Valley High School!

My Students

My school was given a special gift of an ipad cart last year. I would like to take my students to the technology age and give them projects on the pad that they will enjoy doing.

Most of the students at my school come from families that have grown up in this small community their whole life.

Then we have others that come from all over the US looking for a small school environment. Most do not have the technology skills they need for college. Our school always scores very well on standardize tests, but seems to be behind other schools that have technology at their fingertips. We were given one apple device cart of 30 to service all grades 7-12. I would like to see accessories added to the cart that not only I can use with my class, but to help the whole school. Our students are well behaved and very respectful. We have a community that is very supportive and wants the best for their child. Parents, students, and teachers at my small school of just over 500 deserve to have the same opportunities as those of a larger school.

My Project

I am the reading coach at my school. My students will be able to make projects with apps using listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Those skills will be the most important in their adult life. We have one ipad cart to share with our school of 7-12 graders. It was not used a lot last year because none of the pads had covers to protect the screen and our teachers were afraid of damaging them. This also kept me from using them as much. The mirror play and dongles will help them show their finished cumulative project on the screen for the teacher and students to view. This will give them the courage and confidence to do presentations without fear of getting up in front of a classroom. It will help transition their fears of not being able to present, to seeing that they can do whatever they want!

My classroom will have more resources to do more fun activities and projects.

I believe that each child will benefit by using the technology more and getting to know how to use different accessories to make their projects better. These skills will help them as an adult by making them more productive in life and in the work field. Things are changing every year and my students deserve to keep up with the technology that is available and know how to use it.
