Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first grade students are from a low income part of our town in Eastern Washington. Their backgrounds are diverse and everyone qualifies for free lunches because of the extreme poverty in this area.
Even though most of our students are living in poverty we have an award winning school because the teachers at our school work hard and the students are putting forth great effort.
We have an extremely good group of students. They are proud of their school and they deserve to have the best supplies.
My Project
My classroom has nine iPads for the students to use. We have to take turns when we are learning on them. It would be great if we could have most of the students able to have an iPad to use when we need technology. We don't have any student computers for our classroom.
I would like to have my students be able to read current events on the iPads in the morning for an entry task.
This will help their reading skills and expose them to non-fiction more.
Having just two more iPads will allow students to work with a partner when using them.
More than half of students from low‑income households
