My students need to replace a PlayStation game console that we got 7 years ago with games to play.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Combs's classroom raised $1,051
This project is fully funded
My Students
Our students are incarcerated youth who have spent very little time in any sort of typical classroom.
Something in their lives has gone horribly wrong; and now they're not only paying for it, but trying to learn something new to keep themselves from returning to the juvenile justice system.
These students are still at the early stages of the game where they haven't given up hope for the future. Thus, they see each opportunity to learn a new skill as something that could help turn their lives around.
My Project
Our education system is currently in a state of denial. Our schools turn a blind eye on the advancement of technology. We live in a world where kids are Internet savvy and constantly plugged in with smart phones and social networking sites. Some in our school and community environment are willing to do what it takes to prepare our students for the future, while most still prefer to filter any pod-casting, video-streaming and other useful digital media from school computers. As educators, we risk becoming outdated by the exponential growth of technology which never stops and changes on a day to day basis. We're requesting a Playstation gaming console, the hardware to make it fully functional, and the software to make it meaningful. We're asking for cadre of games that will demonstrate to our students the capability of the technology and illustrate possible career choices in the field.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
