My Students
We are a pre-K through 5 school and are fortunate to have just funded 8 iPads and a new laptop through DonorsChoose.org. and now need to help protect our investment and build productivity.
I teach a new bunch of smart, curious, talented, and creative second graders every year who love learning.
We are a rural community and serve a variety of families. As a Title I school, many of our students receive free and reduced lunch. I believe that every child should be able to learn and grow with the best opportunities possible. Their economic status and being in a rural community should not limit their education. I believe in the students at my school and want to do all I can to help them get the needed materials to manipulate and experience the most up to date technologies of the 21st century as well as learn how to care for these tools.
My Project
Elementary students are very enthusiastic learners, but do not always slow down to take the best care of things and with continued use, school supplies suffer from daily wear and tear. The screen protectors will help protect our iPads from continued use. The laptop case and keyboard cover will help protect the laptop from possible mishaps being in the classroom. The staff at our school is exploring ways to best utilize the iPads from only using one as a model and/or presenting to a whole class or students using them independently for a variety of learning activities. The mini display port will allow teachers to project iPad and computer images for the whole class and the stylus will support different learners.
Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) increases with everything around us in our world today.
Our country is challenged by many other countries of the world as leaders of these areas. We want to create graduates who are on the cutting edge in STEM. By providing the tools, education, and opportunity to students beginning in grades as young as Pre-K this goal is definitely achievable for country's future graduates.
