Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Silicon Valley is rich with technology but our school lacks the funding to afford any.

My students live in a high poverty area, but have taken it upon themselves to sign up for a technology focused program at our school.

This is a new program offered at our school, and just like every other school, we have been hit hard by a lack of educational funding. This is causing our new technology program to start with a lack of technology! My students are motivated and eager but are still using out-dated overheads and transparencies, hardly the technology program they were hoping for. I want to be able to have the resources that these wonderful students deserve!

My Project

With this donation of an LCD projector, I will be able to demonstrate to my students how to use computers and other forms of technology. Using the projector with our overhead projector I will be able to model online research through search engines, and how to identify reliable and disreputable information. I am also very excited to show my students the Google Earth program so that they can understand and identify characteristics of our changing planet. This will also allow me to share with students their "environmental footprint" on our Earth, and show them how they can make a difference.
