My Students
I have 32 wonderful and bright students. They are all eager to learn many things in kindergarten. As a new teacher, I am motivated to bring new and exciting ideas into the classroom. I teach low-income students in a Chicago neighborhood. My school is great; unfortunately, it lacks necessary funding that is greatly needed. The principal and the staff are great to work with. We all help each other in order to benefit student learning, which is most important to me as an educator. Without funding, the students are not given the accurate amount of supplies needed to complete the school year.
I teach ESL students reading, math, writing, social studies, and science.
My students love participating in centers for reading and math, but I would love to incorporate a writing center filled with the right materials.
My Project
My students need ink for the classroom computer. Many of my students have never been on a computer in their lifetime. As a teacher working in CPS, I find it difficult to buy the supplies needed to fulfill the needs in the classroom. I allow my students time to use the classroom computer and my personal printer for their school work, homework, and test taking skills and free time. The ink from the printer gets used up very quickly and I'm finding it very difficult to purchase the ink continuously on my own.
My students come from a low income neighborhood in Chicago, and they do not have the supplies necessary for our technological advancements in our society.
Being able to use technology in the classroom would help prepare my students for the digital future. These 21st-century skills are essential in order to be successful in this day and age. Jobs that may not have had a digital component in the past, may have one now. Education isn’t just about memorizing facts and vocabulary words, it’s about solving complex problems and being to collaborate with others in the workforce. It would mean a lot if you could donate to our classroom computer and printer.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
