Technology Opens the Door to Creativity

Help me give my students the tools they need to make their class projects unique. Having an iPad in our classroom will allow my students to record themselves and edit their videos using the many apps available.

My Project

I teach Reading and English to 7th and 8th-grade students in a rural area in Oklahoma. Most of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches and come to school without the basic school supplies needed to succeed in school. My students are very bright and love to learn; they deserve so much more than I can provide for our classroom on my own. With the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising costs of everything purchased for basic needs, my students are in need of help purchasing the technology to use on their assignments. Having an iPad, Apple Pencil, and keyboard will give my students the tools they need to be able to make and edit videos for their class projects. My students complete book projects over the novels they read independently. They are able to choose which project works best with their learning style. Some of the project options that this iPad, Apple Pencil, & keyboard will be used for are: recording a book report podcast, making an Adobe Spark video summarizing the book, using Stop Motion Studio to retell the story in the novel, or highlighting important parts of the plot utilizing Apple Clips. One of the great things about teaching middle schoolers is that they will probably be able to introduce me to even more amazing Apple apps they can use in the classroom.
