My Students

My students are enthusiastic learners. They have come so far this year. Many came to me reading far below grade level with limited writing abilities. Many speak a different language at home. For the vast majority of my students, English is their second language. This year I have two students who came to the United States in September and began third grade not knowing any English at all. Technology is a great way to engage my students. I know my students this year as well in the years to come would benefit greatly from this donation.

My Project

For the majority of my students English is their second language. Technology is an integral part of their learning experience. Computers open the door to numerous educational websites. In addition, it also provides them the ability to use Google translate throughout the day. For my third grade students who are not yet reading or speaking English chromebooks enable my students to read online and have fluency modeled for them. It helps to expand their English vocabulary. It enables my students to type in their native language and translate into English. The possibilities these chromebooks will afford to my students are truly endless.
