This is my 14 year teaching in an urban environment. I currently attend trainings that deepen my understanding of the Common Core State Standards as well as Smart Board training. I view websites on line to help me reaching the diverse group of 2nd grade ICT students.
At this present time my school computer is old and outdated and has begun to show a lot of wear and tear.
The screen freezes and I must restart the computer several times a day which takes away from learning for the students. The connection area must also be repaired. It is difficult to keep up with my professional development if I don't have the proper technology to use. In addition , I will be able to use the tablet to document the growth of my students through out the year with their Individualized Educational Plan goals.
My Project
Through professional development I will be able to acquire new strategies that I can immediately take back and use in the classroom. A laptop will allow me to access websites including BrainPop, Think Central, and The Teaching Channel to aid in instruction as well as Google docs to teach students presentations using the latest programs that are available. As a grade leader I'm also responsible to share key information with my colleagues. A new computer will allow me to easily share my information with colleagues and the students will benefit the most. I would be able to use this computer to access teaching resources that will assist in enhancing my learning technology, lessons planning and lectures.
With your support, the tablet will be an important component for my teaching practice.
Bringing technology in the classroom will open the world for my diverse students and allow me to assess the Common Core materials and Smart Board tools, using this tablet, and prepare the students for the 21st century.
