Technology Needed in our Pre-K Classroom and STEAM Building Materials
My students need technology, a science station, an Engineering station, speakers, Legos, and a Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar Toy to create a FUN STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) learning center!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Reyes's classroom raised $520

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Pre-K classroom is a vibrant, hands-on learning environment where students can explore and become life-long learners. I want to keep them engaged. This is their very first year of school, and I love to set their expectations high. I have 20 wonderful, fun, loving Pre-K students, who are learning in two languages: English and Spanish. I have 10 boys and 10 girls. They come to school ready to learn each day. they are quick to ask questions, participate, and jump in to explore and discover. They will learn to discover, explore with confidence, and develop a lifetime love of learning.
My Project
My Pre-K students need the speakers I have requested to hear mindfulness sounds, multicultural music from around the world, and listen to various documentaries that go with our units of study. In addition, my students need Fox in the Box, a positional words activity set, which encourages children to build their vocabulary, practice rhyming, and learn how to follow 2- and 3-step directions.
My students love technology and at a young age I want to introduce STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) and create a center within our classroom.
STEAM activities will not only facilitate team building skills, but also critical thinking and problem solving skills. Children love things that move and love robotics. The Think & Learn Code-a-Pillar will engage students in coding and in math. Kids connect the segments to make Code-A-Pillar go forward, left, right or wherever they choose.
I am excited to build a STEAM center. Therefore, my students and I need your help in obtaining STEAM materials for our classroom where students can use their imagination and build great things. With STEAM sets such as LEGOS, Bridge Building, Vehicle Building, and House Building, students will be able to design, build, evaluate, and discuss their designs throughout the engineering process. As for example, What makes a bridge strong? How do vehicles roll, tow and carry things?. Other STEAM materials include a Science Station, in which students learn the concepts of Sink or Float, from making a raft sink to getting a sea star to float; Motion, as they race carts down ramps; Magnets, where children use magnets to push cars up a ramp, move a magnetic mouse through a maze and more as they learn all about magnetism. All these great items will help me have a better classroom: a place where children become future engineers, scientist, artist, and mathematicians.
