My Students
Our students will benefit highly using technology. At least 95% of the student at FC are low socioeconomic status and probably do not have technology in their homes. Many of the students at FC lack food, necessities, and school supplies. Providing snacks for our students will make them more comfortable and willing to learn because a hungry child cannot focus. The area in which my students live was negatively affected by Hurricane Harvey and many families are still recovering as a result. It is heartbreaking to see how much impact Harvey still has on our city and our students. As an educator, it my job to ensure all my students received the education they need and to meet all their needs. I will always ensure my students are comfortable in their learning environment.
Additionally, many of the students in my class have learning disabilities.
Some cannot read or write. I would love to be able to provide each student with their own tablet so that lessons are specially designed for each student to meet them where they are.
My Project
These tablets will allow students to have access to technology to access the curriculum that is individually designed for each student’s individual needs. The tablets will be used by students during literacy workstations and throughout the day. The tablets will help to bridge the gaps that my students are lacking, enable them to learn and do things they might not otherwise be able to do. Technology will help my students to access educational websites such as the Unique platform (a program designed especially for students with learning disabilities). They will have access to tutorials, guided reading, and much more. My students will also learn technology skills. Technology is a very powerful tool for education because it makes teaching and learning more meaningful and fun and allows students to learn at their own pace.
