My students need an iPad with a case that will help them in the classroom.

My Students
Many of my students do not have the same experiences that many other children/ students have from other communities. They are in need of many materials that many children need.
Many children in my classroom are low income and have limited experiences to explore outside of their small town.
Many students in my classroom do not have learning materials at home and seldom are exposed to outside learning opportunities. It is very important for my classroom to be a place where students can have a wealth of resources in order to be successful. Our community was devastated in August by the Great Flood of 2016 that caused 80% of our community to flood. Many of our students lost everything.
My Project
An iPad in the classroom will allow students to conduct group-like research during English Language Arts literature circles. Fifth graders need a jump start in researching with the use of technology to help prepare them for future research projects. I will use this to teach them how to research authors of literary text used in the classroom which will help them make connections to real-life connections to the world.
Presently in my classroom, we have only 2 working computers.
This makes research projects difficult to accomplish on a daily bases due to this limitation. Students are easily bored while waiting for their turn to use the computer.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
