This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach music grades 6-8 in a very low income district. We are a public school and we receive very little money for music.
Students are always tapping on tables, their laps, you name it, they are tapping and making beats all day long! Instead of asking them to stop their creative beats, I would like to channel their energy in a more positive way.
I am asking for a beats machine for the students to use. There are many ways we could use this in class. We could do rhythm activities that are created by myself and the students, we could have student groups compete for the best beats and perform for the class, and we could learn how to layer different instruments and tempos. The possibilities are endless!!
You will make it possible for students to channel their creative beats and performances in a positive way! This will create many performance opportunities for the students and many learning opportunities as well.
