My students need five new ability switches for our switch library. These include one disc switch, two block switches, one jumbo switch and a wobble switch.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Ahern's classroom raised $541
This project is fully funded
My Students
Everyday my student work harder to meet their goals than most of us do in a week. They need specialized assistive technology to access their school curriculum. Assistive technology is any product which allows an individual with a disability to complete a task more independently.
Independence is the name of the game for my students.
They have significant multiple disabilities. These include cerebral palsy, autism, Rett Syndrome, and brain injury to name a few. The students I serve are ages 4-21. Ninety percent or more of the students do not speak or walk. However not being able to speak isn't the same as having nothing to say and not being able to walk isn't the same as having no where to go. My students have dreams they wish to achieve!
My Project
The purchase of five adaptive switches for our switch library will allow my students to control their environments, our computer and even play recorded messages to communicate. The switches are buttons which can be used with other pieces of technology to control everything from blenders and special scissors to talking software and speech output devices. Your donation will help add to our library of assistive technology so we will have what we need at the ready for all our students to surge forward in becoming who they are meant to be.
This project helps put technology right in the hands of the children who need it most.
Everyday you use you computer and cell phone to learn, work, play and communicate - with your donation you help us give special needs children that same privilege.
