Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic, ambitious and excited learners. Curriculum that involves hands on experience brings out the excitement that school is supposed to have for these young minds. Advancements in technology allow children of today to be innovated, creative, and expressive. My students are eager to have the opportunity that other students have around the wold to excel regardless of their socio-economic status. All of my students face the continuous struggle of having to play the "catch up" game because their family is not in a situation where technology comes first. Instead, they worry about paying the bills. Parents rely that at school their kids will receive those 21st century skills to go into the world and make a difference.

Technology opens the minds of all my students and makes them innovators of their world.

They see that they can learn, practice and create with a simple app or educational website. My students practice their skills through games that challenge them academically but are highly engaging.

My Project

These iPads would allow my students to have access to internet websites and apps that challenge each student at their academic level. It would open opportunity to have small group sessions of online engagement throughout the day. We are currently allowed to use the computer lab at the school for 50 minutes twice a week, but this is often not enough time when we have outdated technology that often breaks down. The PCs located at the school are very slow, often shut down and do not connect to the internet without an ethernet cord. Finally, these iPads would help students use the technology that is available but not yet at their finger tips.
